ABOUT

Beyond Safety Care is a trauma-informed, skill-based training designed to transform how staff respond to crises with youth. Instead of relying on physical restraints—which can cause harm, retraumatize residents, and damage trust—this training equips staff with practical tools to recognize early signs of escalation, de-escalate situations safely, and embed therapeutic practices into everyday living.

Through interactive activities, role-play, and real-world scenarios, participants learn how to:

  • Spot triggers and intervene before behaviors escalate.

  • Use a wide range of non-physical alternatives, including verbal de-escalation, restorative conversations, and sensory supports.

  • Respond as a unified team with consistent, safe protocols.

  • Integrate coping skills and therapeutic practices into daily routines.

  • Build a culture of safety, accountability, and healing that reduces reliance on restraint.

This training empowers staff to not only keep youth safe in the moment but also foster long-term trust, emotional growth, and stability. It supports agencies in meeting compliance standards, improving outcomes, and building a healthier, more supportive program culture.
